Philadelphia — For the past decade, WDAS and iHeartRadio have shined a spotlight on remarkable women through their annual Women of Excellence luncheon — a celebration of leadership, resilience and community impact across Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley.
This year’s event continued that tradition, bringing together community leaders, business owners, activists and entertainers for an afternoon of recognition and inspiration.
Among the honorees was Joanna McClinton, speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, whose historic leadership has helped reshape local and state politics. Known for her advocacy and commitment to equity, McClinton has become a powerful force for progress in the region.

Entrepreneur Sereena Cook, the first Black Chick-fil-A franchise owner in Philadelphia, was also recognized for her impact. Drawing from her corporate background, Cook has championed economic growth while investing in the strength of her local community.
The luncheon also honored Bishop Michelle Anne Simmons, Martice Sutton, Autumn Lockwood and Talehia Booker — each recognized for their dedication to uplifting others and creating lasting change throughout the region.

A special tribute was given to Philadelphia native Vivian Green, whose soulful, chart-topping music has resonated with audiences for years, blending emotional depth with powerful storytelling.

Adding to the celebration, Emmy Award-winning journalist and television host Tamron Hall received the prestigious Legion Award. During her remarks, Hall reflected on her early beginnings in Philadelphia, recalling her time as an intern at WDAS and her connection to radio personality Patty Jackson.
She credited the city with shaping her resilience and voice, expressing gratitude for the community, mentorship and musical culture that helped define her journey.

The afternoon was punctuated with live performances by Christopher Williams and Jane Hancock, whose dynamic sets brought energy and celebration to the room.
As the Women of Excellence luncheon marks its 10th year, it continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the women driving change, building communities and inspiring the next generation — not only in Philadelphia, but far beyond.
