One of NYC’s favorite Spike Lee joints, BK Loves MJ, returned to Fort Greene Park on Michael Jackson’s birthday. Crown Heights’ own DJ Spinna presided over the celebration, leading a crowd of 25,000 people who packed every square inch of the park to celebrate the King of Pop in style.

From legions of residents of the nearby Ingersoll and Walt Whitman Houses — where Spike Lee has been a lifelong neighbor — to veteran transplants from different coasts and lands far, far away, it was a loving family reunion for all.

During DJ Spinna’s seven-hour marathon set, he welcomed several guests to the stage, including Grandmaster Flash, Renée Neufville, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Consequence and Stevie Wonder’s “lovely” daughter, Aisha Morris.

After a full summer day of favorite songs, samples, deep cuts and multi-genre remixes featuring Michael Jackson and his musical bloodline — sorry, Shazam, not today — Spike came back out to thank everyone for coming as DJ Spinna dropped “Da Butt.”

“Oh, yeah?!?” The entire congregation sang and grooved to the dance that Brooklyn filmmaker No. 1 created himself. The more you know.

Everyone looked sharp, euphoric and comfortably at home. After this Jordan Brand-sponsored jam, Myrtle, Willoughby, DeKalb and Lafayette avenues were peacefully electrified well into the night.
