On Friday, June 27, 2025, the New York Association of Black Journalists (NYABJ) attended the New York Yankees vs. Oakland Athletics game at Yankee Stadium. The night was full of energy as members of the organization came to connect, for an unforgettable evening in the heart of the Bronx.
After arriving and having our tickets scanned, we made our way to our seats. The view of the field was stunning, and the atmosphere was electric buzzing with excitement from fans all around.

The concession lines were packed, but Yankee stadium thought of it all and fans were able to keep up with the game on the overhead TVs. The food was worth the almost 40-minute wait, we tried the pastrami sandwich, fries, and chicken tenders and it was all delicious! Before the night was over, we tried a soft pretzel, which we highly recommend.

The game itself was filled with highlights. Jazz Chisholm launched a home run in the bottom of the second inning. Aaron Judge, as dangerous as ever, was intentionally walked for the 18th time this season, sending a buzz through the stadium. Hometown favorite Anthony Volpe represented Jersey with pride, and my personal favorite pitcher, Luke Weaver, took the mound with a cool, focused presence that gave the crowd chills when his entrance music hit.

As the game wound down, members of the organization came together to network It was inspiring to meet the people behind the scenes who make experiences like this possible.
When the final out was made, the crowd erupted in a chorus of Frank Sinatra’s “Theme from New York, New York” as fireworks lit up the night sky. It was a moment that felt larger than the game itself, a celebration of the city, the sport, and the powerful sense of community that filled the stadium.
