By Breanna Robinson

Tis the season to come together for the holiday spirit of food, conversation, and building memories with loved ones. While feeling jolly, you may want to gift something special to those closest to you but don’t know where to find it. Thanks to the one-day SheaMoisture-powered event She Did That. Holiday Bazaar, which took place on Sunday, December 1, numerous amazing and inspiring brands were available to explore.

She Did That. Holiday Bazaar, founded by Renae Bluitt—a multifaceted producer, brand consultant, documentary film creator, and executive producer—curated its seventh annual shopping extravaganza at Industry City in Brooklyn, New York.

Upon arrival, guests weren’t afraid to rock their best outfits, participating in the “SheMoisture Fit Check” to showcase their beautifully paired ensembles. What’s more? The first 500 ticket holders to enter the venue received a SheaMoisture and She Did That gift bag.

Goodies included in the gift bag were the spicy condiment Peppa Sauce by Aunts et Uncles and a copy of New York City event company founder Amber Mayfield Hewett’s fourth volume of While Entertaining, which highlights recipes and personal anecdotes from the chefs behind the delicious creations. Mayfield Hewett is also the founder of the supper club To Be Hosted, which promotes deep conversations, great food, and unity. "Together, we can make a meaningful impact by choosing to shop with intention and purpose this holiday season and beyond,” said Bluitt in a press release.

After the pictures were taken and guests made their way inside the venue, they were immersed in the talented fashion, accessory, lifestyle, and food vendors present, such as Fe Noel Little Caribbean—a womenswear luxury brand inspired by Felisha Noel’s Caribbean heritage; Wafer Like The Cookie NYC, a luxury millinery hat brand; Umber by J. Lenay, a skincare company that helps naturally reduce excessive hair, acne, and hyperpigmentation; and lifestyle brand She Got The Juice, which creates affirmation cards, pins, and stickers. Brooklyn Tea was also present to share its delectable and uniquely flavored teas, while The Crabby Shack satisfied seafood cravings.

SheaMoisture also launched “He Did That. Holiday Bazaar,” a men-owned marketplace in collaboration with Georgetown University’s 2024 Trailblazers Fellowship members to showcase founders and businesses. The event highlighted more than 60 Black-owned brands in New York City and across the tri-state area for guests to shop. Bluitt’s She Did That. Holiday Bazaar movement first launched in 2019 to highlight talented and compassionate Black entrepreneurs as they navigated the ebbs and flows of their journeys and how they prevailed. A year later, in 2020, Bluitt executive produced a documentary of the same name, which was released on Netflix (and is now available on Amazon Prime Video). The film further explores Black women tapping into their passions and carving their own paths in life. Events like She Did That. Holiday Bazaar are insightful and exciting ways to support the community’s finest entrepreneurial efforts during the holidays.
